New AM80EW-LPZ series adds a higher-power 2 x 1 inch solution for industrial and distributed power applications
Aimtec is expanding its LPZ low price family with the new AM80EW-LPZ, extending the EW-LPZ platform to 80W. Designed for applications requiring wider input flexibility, regulated output performance and reliable isolated power conversion, the new series provides a higher-power option in a compact, industry-standard package.
Higher-Power 2 x 1 Inch Platform
The AM80EW-LPZ is housed in a 50.8 x 25.4 x 11.8 mm (2.00 x 1.00 x 0.47 inch) package. It complements the 2 x 1 Inch LPZ models, giving engineers a practical option for increasing power requirements while retaining the same basic package class. Optional heatsink, screw-terminal and DIN-rail mounting configurations provide additional integration flexibility for different system designs.
Wide 4:1 Input Range and Regulated Outputs
The series supports 24V nominal input models operating from 9–36VDC and 48V nominal input models operating from 18–75VDC. Single-output options include 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V and 24VDC, with output power reaching 80W on selected models. This range allows designers to select common regulated DC rails for industrial and distributed power architectures.
Shared Features for Demanding Applications
The AM80EW-LPZ combines typical efficiency up to 91% with 1600VDC input-to-output isolation and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C, subject to derating. Integrated protection includes continuous short-circuit protection with automatic recovery, overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection and undervoltage lockout.
Remote On/Off control and external output voltage trimming provide additional flexibility for system-level power management. The series also offers a minimum MTBF of 1,000,000 hours, calculated according to MIL-HDBK-217F at 25°C. These characteristics support dependable operation in equipment where thermal performance, electrical isolation and protection are important design considerations.
Target Applications
The new 80W offering is well suited for power grid systems, industrial control equipment, telecom and communication systems, instrumentation and measurement devices, and distributed power architectures. Its combination of wide input coverage, regulated outputs and compact packaging makes it suitable for applications requiring stable isolated DC power in space-conscious designs.
